Costa Rica Rainforest Adventure

Day 1 Your guide and driver pick you up at Juan Santamaría International Airport and take to the hotel in San Jose. Visit Gold Museum, National museum and Catedral chuch in the center of San Jose.



Day 2 Explore Tortuguero Canals, forest-lined rivers and man-made channels by small boat. Tortuguero is the most important area of the Caribbean Midwest where the green tortoises (chelonian Mydas) come to lay their eggs. Other species of sea tortoises that also lay eggs along the canal of the park are Carey and Baula. The green tortoise is of medium size, with long fins that can reach up to one meter long; adult green tortoise can weight from 75 to 200 kg. It is an herbivorous animal. A characteristic of these tortoises is that they travel in large groups to mate in places away from their regular feeding areas.

 



Day 3  Full day in Tortuguero ( meals and activities included)
optional morning tour: Enjoy nature its best as you undertake a journey through the canals at dawn and take your best short of a real caribbean sunrise. Discover Costa Rica flavors as you enjoy breakfast at the hotel. After lunch take your time to enjoy our private trails, ride a boat throgh the Canals or just relax. This night optional walking tour walking on the beach and admire the green turtles nesting (July, August & September)

 

Day 4 After breakfast, we will drive you to scenic mountain roads to reach Majestic Arenal Volcano . Visit To The Baldi Hot Springs and dinner. The resort provide 25 of the most termal mineral waters in the world, that flow naturaly from the volcano. Their medicinal waters certifided by L.N.A.( Laboratorio Nacional de Aguas) Costa Rica's Goverment, each one of the different temperatures that go from 93, 100, 102, 104, 109, 110, 113, 116, 152º F according to the different taste and needs of the clients.

 





Day 5 Free morning to relax or enjoy the forest, in the afternoon regular transfer across Arenal lake by boat to Monteverde Cloud forest,This service, half tour half transfer is an scenic, fast and the newest way to go or come from La Fortuna Arenal Volcano Area, to the Monteverde area.Around 7:30 a.m. we start picking everybody from the hotels in La Fortuna for a 30 minutes microbus drive to the Arenal Lake Dam. There we will aboard into a very comfortable and safe pontoon boat for a 30 to 40 minutes (aprox). ride to Río Chiquito, a little town at the other side of the lake. a cloud forest community world-renowned for conservation efforts.

 





Day 6 This morning explore the Monteverde Cloudforest Reserve, home of the resplendent quetzal.Enjoy a four hour nature tour through the renowned Monteverde Cloud Forest Preserve where a local professional naturalist guide will show and explain you of all the different macro/micro flora and fauna. Visit the Golden Toad's unique habitat, see birds like the Resplendent Quetzal (the most beautiful bird of the Americas), the Three-wattled Bell Bird, and the Black Faced Solitaire. Trees like Strangler Figs, Avocados and Cecropias. Epiphytes like Bromeliads, Orchids and Mosses. And a wide array of insects, mammals and reptiles. Your afternoon is free to visit local craft shops, a butterfly farm, or relax

 



Day 7 Shuttle transfer return to San José, where you will have time to get to know the city. We suggest visiting the National and Jade Museums. Overnight in San Jose

Day 8 We take you to the Juan Santamaría International Airport, where you catch your flight home.
